Norma was born in Wicomico Church, Virginia. At an early age she moved with her parents to Denbeigh, Virginia. After graduating from Warwick High School, she moved to Danville and graduated from DCC in Cosmetology.
Although having a love of art from an early age, it was only after her youngest child was born that she started taking art classes at DCC. Averett College, and VPI. She continues to do workshops in North and South Carolina with instructors like Gerald Broomer, Serge Hollenback, Barbara Nechi, Tony Couch, Marcos Beahoue, and Robert Burridge.
Norma is a charter member of the Danville Art League, she has served on the board in several capacities. She is also a member of Piedmont Art. Norma owns her own business, The Hair Design Gallery, where she displays her art. The Danville Art Museum also has her paintings on display.
While painting in her art studio at home, she draws inspiration from her love of gardening, the ocean, and scenes of Charleston, South Carolina, as well as what else her camera may catch, on trips. She has traveled to Hawaii, Spain, France, Germany, Greece, and other European countries.
Norma's work hangs in private collections from Virginia to Florida, having won numerous awards through the years, she hopes others will have a peaceful contemplation as they view her work. She would like the viewer to experience a joy of memories of places they have encountered in life.
